Brighton Beach, 1993: Teenagers Nell and Jude find the body of a young woman and when no one comes to claim her, she becomes known as the Brighton Mermaid. Nell is still struggling to move on when, three weeks later, Jude disappears. 25 years on, Nell quits her job to find out who the Brighton Mermaid really was - and what happened to her best friend that summer. But as Nell edges closer to the truth, dangerous things start to happen. Someone seems to be watching her every move, and soon she starts to wonder who in her life she can actually trust. Fast-paced and thrilling, 'The Brighton Mermaid' explores the deadly secrets of those closest to you.

I enjoyed this, I haven't read any Dorothy Koomson for a while but I wasn't disappointed, I kept wanting to turn the page to find out what happens, which is always a good indication I think. A little confusing and disjointed at the start as it is told alternately from Nell's and Macy's point of view switching from the present to the past but once I was into it, I was away. Each little clue to what happened to the "Brighton Mermaid" are revealed by each one of the sisters drip by drip. It kept my attention, could be dramatised well for TV I think.
