Set in the exotic palaces and yachts of Europe's seriously wealthy, 'Maestra' is a shockingly original thriller. With a heroine as wickedly perceptive as Amy Dunne and as dangerous as Lisbeth Salander, this marks the beginning of a razor-sharp and meteoric sequence of novels.
'The most shocking thriller you'll read this year'. So says the PR blurb. well curiosity got the better of me. This novel has three stands: a] Prose that could have come straight out of a womans fashion magazine; b] content that might be considered pornographic and c] a story involving various crimes. Some may be 'shocked' by the salacious explicit content but this is not much of a 'thriller' in my understanding of the genre. This is an 'airport novel', a 'summer beach' easy read. It passes the time. I doubt that this will make many peoples favourite book list but credit to the author - and the PR - for their efforts.
